Wow this is my 200th post!

Its been nearly 3 years since I started this blog and I have waffled on about various gaming company’s and their products. Some products have grabbed me and pulled me in others I have lost interest in due to poor management of the range (Mongoose I am looking at you!)

My love of the 40k universe has sadly dwindled away manly due to the some of the models that have been released, as being just plane rubbish. I do how ever have a soft spot for Necromunda and Epic but alas the chances of me playing these are very slim due to the fact that both ranges are OOP and go for a small fortune on eBay!

I do have a soft spot for Dead Zone from Mantic Games, Which I backed when the Kick Starter was on last year. It was due to be shipped in December 2013 but a number of problems lead to it being shipped in waves. Wave 1 was shipped in December 2013 and was very poor. Mine was shipped with everything thrown in a box with the main game box at the bottom of the box with nothing in it!

Wave 2 which turned up the other day, was however packed allot better. everything was packed tightly inside of the box with very little empty space.

The wave 2 models are also a vast improvement over the wave 1 models, with very few mold lines or miscasts. Overall I get the feeling wave 1 production was rushed just to get it ready on time. The third and final wave is due to ship the end of October, and their a rumours of a mini kick starter to add 2 more forces to Dead Zone the Veer-myn and the Corporation. Will I back it? maybe, it all depends how much of a monster it turns in to.

The other game that I have got into is Zombicide (which is more of a board game than a wargame) I got into this through a friend of mine that visited me a few times while I was in hospital. What stuck me was how simple the game was, and the fact that it could be played solo is a bonus. I spent many hours battling zombies while being stuck in a hospital bed, it got me hooked and made me want to get into Zombicide. When I said to my friend about it, he said he knew someone that wanted to sell their Season 1 and 2 Kickstarter pledges. I asked him to find out what he had and how much he wanted for it, about a week later I had an A4 sheet of paper listing everything. The list contained both the S1 and S2 base sets, the toxic city mall supplement, all the extra zombies as well as all the S1 and S2 Survivors (and their Zombivors) as well as extra tiles for S1 and Toxic City Mall. The price however was £800.00, don’t get me wrong its worth it (some of the survivors go for loads on eBay) but it was a little bit out of my league. My friend did say however the guy selling was looking for 40k Chaos Space marines and Tyranids, luckily for me at the start of the year I picked up both army’s when they were released. I had close to £500.00 worth of CSM and nids, 90% of which were new in their boxes! My friend took my list away and let the guy know what I had, next day my friend rang me a told me £200.00 and the CSM and nids and the Zombicide stuff was mine!

Last night my friend turned up with a large, heavy box. And this morning I have spent the past few hours sorting out everything my dinning room table has been covered with 234 zombies, 60 survivors, and 60 Zombivors as well as tons of cards and counters. Out of everything only 3 models have been painted, and hopefully I will be able to try painting them soon!

Now I just have to wait for season 3 to add 172 more zombies, 46 survivors and 46 Zombivors.

Roll on February 2015!

The other day I had an email from UPS about a delivery from Mantic Games. Now the last time I received a email about a parcel from mantic it had been sent in error, and was a few weeks before I received any thing.

I have two things coming from Mantic Dead zone wave 2 (and 3) and Mars Attacks. Dead zone has been shipping since the end of July and so my money was on that. A few hours ago the package turned up weighing in at 6.9kg and was indeed my DZ wave 2 stuff after sorting through all the stuff their are however a few bits missing………………

Alas the A.I. deck (for playing solo) is missing, So I am still unable to play the game. Most of the guys I know are not interested in the game, due to Mantics lack of commitment to their games, they have a habit of releasing a game like Warpath firing out a few army’s and then leaving it alone. A couple of my fellow gamers started up warpath as an alternative to 40k, but with the lack of support the armies now gather dust or get used for 40k. The other problem is “restic” resin that Mantic use, it is not the best material I have used.

The wave 1 models were a mix of “restic”, “white” metal and plastic, where as this wave also contains normal resin (a mix of light grey, light blue, and transparent blue).

In total I am missing 9 models

3 Soraks (1 sword spawn and 2 standard).

4 Brokkrs (1 with rifle and 3 with hammer and pistol).

2 enforcers (1 medic+ 2 shield and 1 thermal rifle).

But on the plus side I have ended up with 45 zombies(I only ordered 20,and 5 were free!) and 4 strider’s (after ordering 2 Mantic upgraded each to include 2 models rather than 1) That means I have one for the Plague,Enforcers,Rebs, and Corporation (when they get added)

Both the Forge Farther and Asterians starter sets look good (just have to wait for the plastic forge guard in wave 3). And as for the Hardback book its fantastic, it has a nice heavy feel to it and combines all of the basic books into one.

In case you could not gather from the title above I am board!

For the past 10 days I have done nothing but watch TV and playing a few games of Zombicide (still not won a game playing solo).

I have shambled along with The Walking Dead, flew through time and space with Doctor Who, and got trapped Under The Dome. As well as watching various other programs on normal TV.

Gaming wise, I have only played 6 or 7 games of Zombicide. Using only 6 of the tiles (that’s what fits on the dinning room table) and 6 survivors against the hordes of zombies! It has been great fun if somewhat tiring for me, and I cannot wait to pick up season 2.

Last week it was leaked that Games Workshop were going to re-release the 3rd edition of space hulk (which was sold as a one off limited edition 5 years ago). I had hoped that it would follow along the lines of the supplements Deathwing and Genestealer and introduce the Dark Angels and Genestealer Hybrids as well as newer versions of the card floor plans. But as with GW its just a re-release of the limited version, with 2 or 3 new tiles. Unfortunately I think its a missed opportunity for GW and space hulk fans alike (even though it has sold out already)

Kick Starter wise their is still no word on All Quite On The Martian Front.

No word on Deadzone or Mars Attacks. I was sitting on the fence about Mars Attacks and was not sure if I would be keeping the plastic models but after watching The Walking Dead I may have to us the US army figures for some Zombicide games.

Both Shadows Of Brimstone and Zombicide S3 have sent out their pledge mangers  for their Kickstarters. SOB having taken nearly a year to get it ready, they have changed a few bits and pieces but nothing major. Nothing to get worried over changing out some blank cards, replacing some free tiles with plastic models, adding a few  models that did not get unlocked.

Zombicide S3 was simple for me I just added everything (well the stuff that was made for this campaign) after reading some reports about shipping charges I was surprised that mine came out at $28.73 (£17.68).

I really want to give some painting ago but with my left arm very shaky, I don’t feel confident at attempting it just yet.

Now do I have a game of Zombicide or watch some TV?………………..

Well its been 2 months since my last update, what have I been up to, where have I been? Well in a nut shell, a few days after I made my last post I was rushed into hospital. Where I have been until 2 days ago. As I have said before in previous posts sometimes my health gets the better of me, unfortunately this time it was quite bad (the worst it has been) and was mainly down to stress putting me out of action. It has how ever taken me sometime to get over it and get back to being on my feet. This has in turn affected my gaming and painting, I did try to paint some models the other week but keeping a brush steady at the moment is very hard. And it may be that way for sometime.

A few of my gaming group came to see me and brought a few bits and pieces with them for me to read through. One of which was the  zombicide board game, which I liked the look of so much I asked if I could borrow the box set while I was laid up (I have yet to win a game when playing solo). I liked it so much that I got my wife to back the Season 3 kickstarter for my which ended up with $2.849.064 and 12.011 backers, which unlocked a host of additional survivors and zombies for the game. One of the guys in my gaming group knows someone that is looking to get rid of their season 1 and 2 kickstarter stuff,  and so I may be able to grab that little lot.

Speaking of kick starters, I  have missed quite a few things.

First up, All Quite On The Martian Front has started selling stuff at retail. to fund the shipping of wave 2 (and 3) their under estimate of the shipping costs has lead them to a short fall (no money left for shipping wave 2). I am disappointed by this, but if it means I get my stuff I don’t really care. ETA ?

Tablescapes, the tiles have now left china and are on their way around the globe (with mine going to Mantic) ETA ?

Incursion, seems to have hit a bump with the company who are producing the game who said it would be ready in september. But the guys behind incursion have seen nothing. ETA ?

Deadzone wave 2. Once again Mantic have lost time waiting for something to be fixed only to announce that it will be sent with wave 3. the whole project is now 9 months behind and if wave 3 happens in october it will be around 10-11 months behind. ETA September.

Mars Attacks was meant to ship last month (August), but delays at sea have pushed it to the end of this month (September). ETA September.

Shadows Of Brimstone, was meant to ship last month. But the pledge manger has still not been sent out (the project finished November last year) and their has been no word on what is going on (they did have copies for sale at Gencon, which caused a bit of a uproar) some copies have ended up on eBay. ETA ?

Alien vs Predator, was due in may. But due to a number of problems and a None disclosure Act (NDA) from 20th century fox it looks like we are going to be waiting until November. The NDA seems to have also been in place for the upcoming Alien: Isolation computer game that is released in a few months. Prodos have also caused a storm by saying that the KS exclusive set is going to be sold at retail as they need to have a minimum of  5000 units produced. As around 2500 uints will be used for the KS. they need to make it cost efective for them.   ETA November.

Battle Systems terrain, Has arrived it turned up last month. I have yet to start working on it yet, as it needs a bit of work a few small cuts here and their. And at the moment I do not feel confident using a ruler and knife to perform the cuts that are needed (it can wait awhile, as I wanted it for AvP anyway).

Overall some of the projects have let their backers down , due in part to poor management. and as much as I like the projects that are listed above the chances of my making any follow up purchases are very slim.

Deadzone was going to be my replacement for 40k but with things from wave 2 being sold in retail packaging on the likes of eBay my faith in Mantic is very small. Add to that the fact that Mars attacks is due and we have yet to see quite a few of the models, are they ready? The same goes for All quite, we were told the models were ready to go but yet we still have yet to see some of them. Hopefully things will start to turn up soon.

At the end of the day as long as I get my stuff I don’t care!

It may be quite on here for a few weeks (months) until I can get back to normal, and hopefully get painting again!

Their is only so much TV I can watch!
