wow where has the time gone, since my last post I have played five games of 40k with my Blood Angels. I have won 1 game, lost 1 game, and have drawn 3 games. I am once again getting to grips with 40k and am really enjoying it. Unfortunately it was announced that the club will be closing at the end of April, but the guys i have been playing 40k with have agreed that we will have to continue playing at each others houses.

My Iron Warriors are steaming along at full pace now and soon they will grace the battlefield. I have 20 marines ready as well as a dreadnought,  3 obliterators.

Also on the painting table are a rhino, predator and a vindicator.

I am in the process of putting together some Khorne Berserker and some Havocs as well as converting my Warsmith/Daemon Prince.

Wow just over 2 years ago I did 2 post on here about a small Iron Warriors force that I was working on. Well as with many projects they were boxed up and put away (and to be forgotten), then the other day while searching for something else I came across the box containing them. Now this may be the Chaos gods telling me that I need to work on them, or just plane luck (I will go with the chaos gods, as it sounds better!). But with the release of the Chaos Hellbrute (dreadnought) this weekend it has to be a sign.

I have set about fixing arms, heads, weapons, etc. back on to the models. I have also raided my old Black Templer army for some armoured support in the form of a Predator tank and a Vindicator tank. I also found a battered Rhino APC .

I always saw the Iron Warriors as have “dirty” armour, rather than the semi bright armour seen in the GW paint jobs. To combat this I have based the models with Plate Mail spray from The Army Painter and washed it with Dark Tone ink from their warpaints line, next up the armour trim has been painted with Balthasar Gold dry brushed with Golden Griffon. The casing of the bolter and the shoulder pad back grounds are painted Abbadon Black, and then to top it all of another was of Dark Tone Ink. This gives me a lovely “dirty” look to them. I have done 10 marines so far and have started working on a obliterator as a change.

Now what can I add next?

Last weekend I played my first game of Warhammer 40000 in 2 years, in fact it may even be longer than that. We managed to squeeze in two games both of which saw me fighting against Chaos Space Marines. My First game was a narrow defeat by 2VP’s, And the second game was a draw. I had great fun and it brought back loads of memory’s of my childhood of the battles that were fought over my patio (10ft x 10ft) in those day Apocalypse rules did not exist, and me and my friend James would through everything we had  into the battle (this included tyranids and orks on the same side) in the winter battles would shift to James house and be fought in his dinning room. Back then I was playing at least 1 game a week (3 or 4 in school holidays). But now I seem to be lucky if I get 1 game in a month, but now my wife wants to start gaming so hopefully things may change!

In other news, My Imperial Knight turned up the kit it’s self looks fantastic. I have so far resisted the temptation to put it together until I have decided on a colour scheme for it. I have also been given the opportunity to swap some none 40k models for a small 40k Daemon army (Soul grinder, 10 Plague bearers, 10 Horrors,10 Blood letters.) I already have some daemons (of Khorne)  form a trade a few years ago (around the time I moved, so they never got started) so it looks like I will be painting red again…………

I have also brought home my Cites Of Death terrain from the club, it is in need of some much needed TLC (and a repaint) after all some of it is 6 years old and needs to be painted a little bit better this time (and not rushed like last time).

Now lets sort out some Daemons…………..
